Started week 3 of Hal Higdon's 10k training program. Did my "long" run today. 6.5k. Ran around the lake, while my 6 year old rode next to me on his bike. After the first time around the lake, he got so bored, so decided to park his bike and run the next lap around the lake with me. Well, he runs faster than I do, I couldn't keep up with him. If that wasn't embarrassing enough, some guy on a motorcycle pulled up next to me, with a concerned look on his face, and asked me if I needed a ride. My ego is still trying to recover.

Little kids run fast. Could he keep up that speed for the full distance around the lake? I did a fun run at the school with my 8-year-old recently and she would take off and it was all I could do to keep up with her, but then she would stop and walk after a short distance.

At least you were out running, which the guy on the motorcycle wasn't doing.

Yes, my son did speed up at first, but I still couldn't catch up with him for the entire way around the lake (2.5k).

As for that guy on the motorcycle - yeah, you are right, at least I was running. No matter how tired I was, I wouldn't have accepted a ride with him anyway, he had a creepy smile. By the way, I don't have a creepy smile. :)

wow, sounds like he is a natural born runner - or maybe it was just a special day for him :)

Glad you got the run in and things are feeling good for you. I just wish my kids were willing to tag along for any of it any how! All I usually get are groans and moans.
